Registration for the Finnish Music Video Competition 2024 is now open!

Registration for the 31st domestic competition of the Oulu Music Video Festival has opened, and the final submission date for music videos is Friday, June 7. Registration and additional information can be found at https://www2.omvf.net/fi/kotimainen-kilpailu/ilmoittautuminen.

The competition is open to music videos directed by Finns that have not previously been shown at the festival. Creators can also participate with videos made for international artists. Videos submitted to the competition are divided in the pre-screening into competition screenings and showcase screenings. The competition screenings are divided into thematic categories and all videos are shown at the festival for free. All videos submitted to the competition participate in a public vote and are archived in the world's largest Finnish music video archive managed by OMVF, which currently contains 6,972 works from 1994–2023.

Winners will be awarded at the festival's award ceremony, the Pumpeligaala, on Saturday, August 24. The winning videos are selected by an independent jury. This year's jury includes Scottish director and VFX artist Felix Geen, Swedish director Matt Broadley, and journalist Eleonoora Riihinen.

Directors of domestic competition videos compete not only for eternal glory but also for the main prize, the Golden Pumpeli, with the winner receiving a 2,000 euro main prize donated by Kinos Rentals. A promising young director is awarded the Teen Pumpeli and a prize provided by Toast, the most meritorious post-production with a gift card provided by Fimeko. The best cinematography is awarded with the Lens Pumpeli and an equipment rental prize sponsored by Valofirma and Kamerafirma. The public vote winner is awarded with a gift card from Real Deal. This year's Pumpeli statues are the handiwork of Eetu Kevarinmäki, who has also created this year's graphics.

Additionally, the jury will award four distinguished directors with honorary mentions and the Music Promotion Foundation MES will distribute a 1,500 euro Music Video Promotion Prize to a person who has actively furthered the art of Finnish music videos.

The Oulu Music Video Festival will be celebrated from August 22–25, 2024, as part of the Oulu Festival Weeks. This year's festival theme is Uncanny Sports . The festival program, curated under this theme will be announced at the beginning of June.
