OMVF in Berlin

The OMVF European Music Video Competition (filmfreeway.com/OMVF) is open for submissions until June 8, and to celebrate the launch of our first European competition series, we arrive in Berlin, where we are very excited to present our programming at some of the top venues in town!

Join us for a night of Finnish music and music videos curated by OMVF at Babylon, and the after-party by Oulu-based record label and club night Elektorni at OHM!

LEFTFIELD & OBSCURE FINNISH MUSIC VIDEOS 1994–2025

Dive into the alternative side of Finnish music videos. Grainy film footage in dialogue with early experimentation in computer graphics. Experience a wide range of alternative Finnish music videos you will not see anywhere else. In fact, most of these videos are not even on YouTube, so this might well be your once-in-a-lifetime chance to catch them! Curated by Juhani Oivo.

SÄHKÖ

Sähkö (1995), directed by Jimi Tenor, is a snapshot in time of the activities of legendary Finnish record label Sähkö Recordings. The unique and beautifully shot documentary includes rare footage of Finnish artists like Mika Vainio, Ilpo Väisänen, Tommi Grönlund and Mono Junk producing and performing music, as well as working on DIY instruments, pressing records and touring. This beautifully shot and, at times, abstract documentary is essential viewing and inspiration for fans of electronic and experimental music!
After the screenings, we present a Q&A with Ilpo Väisänen, one of the main characters of the movie, who will also perform at the Elektorni after-party at OHM.

After the screening, a line-up presented by Elektorni! Finnish artists Illyana, Ilpo Väisänen (featured in the Sähkö movie), Juhani Oivo and Mesak are joined by Rolando Simmons (SWE) and Picture + Mandee (DK) for a night of high-quality electronic music! Visuals by VJ Tenetz.
