OMVF is touring Europe!

2026-02-20

Oulun Musiikkivideofestivaalit (OMVF) recently launched its first-ever European Music Video Competition and is touring across Europe this spring to spread the word that music video makers from all over Europe can now submit their videos to the festival.

The tour features a curated screening put together by OMVF’s Executive Director Juhani Oivo. The programme includes leftfield and obscure music videos from 1994–2025. The screening is curated from the nearly 8000 music videos in OMVF’s archive — the world’s largest archive of Finnish music videos. The archive has been accumulated through the annual Finnish Music Video Competition, held since 1994. A significant portion of the videos shown are not available on streaming platforms such as YouTube.

At selected events, the programme also includes the documentary Sähkö, directed by Jimi Tenor. The film features rare material documenting the activities of the internationally respected record label Sähkö Recordings in the mid-1990s. Experimental in style, the documentary includes appearances by Finnish pioneers of electronic music, including Mika Vainio and Mono Junk.
