Oulu Music Video Festival kicks off tomorrow! Have you picked your favorites yet?

The Oulu Music Video Festival’s Artistic Director, Joel Karppanen, who curated this year’s program, presents four thematic pathways guiding audiences through different layers of reality – from abstract dreamscapes to video games and auteur directors’ visions.

"These screenings are for you if you’re into experimental cinema, psychedelic aesthetics, and electronic music. Many works are shown on 16mm and 35mm film prints. The joint screening of Opus 9413 & Lunar Dust is one of the highlights: Norwegian The Gloria provides live accompaniment to silent films, while Austrian artist Billy Roisz and Ilpo Väisänen (known from Pan Sonic) present their own expanded cinema performance. Also come find out what connects Disney’s Fantasia with avant-garde animation of the 1920s!"

Akerman’s Jeanne Dielman was recently voted the greatest film of all time in Sight and Sound’s prestigious poll, with Coppola’s The Godfather and Lynch’s Mulholland Drive also making the top ten. At OMVF, we showcase their musicals. Highly recommended for cinephiles and anyone drawn to the uncanny valley!"

Tickets cost €10, except for the Friday night cine-concert (€15). Tickets are available at Valve’s box office and Ticketmaster. Accredited guests may attend screenings free of charge by presenting their festival pass.
