More Lynch!
The Oulu Music Video Festival presents an encore screening of David Lynch’s avant-garde musical Industrial Symphony No. 1: The Dream of the Brokenhearted, first shown during the Night of the Arts.
This unique work fuses music and theatre, starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern – the leads of Wild at Heart, which won the Palme d’Or in Cannes. They portray a separating couple whose heartbreak unfolds in a dreamlike world of haunting industrial stage imagery. With music composed by Angelo Badalamenti and vocals by Julee Cruise (the voice of Twin Peaks’ theme), the performance immerses audiences in a surreal nightmare of sound and vision. Originally staged as a live performance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in 1989, the recorded version has only rarely been shown publicly.
The film will be screened at Valvesali on Sunday, August 24th at 12:00. The ticket also grants entry to the following program, E–LEC-TRI-CI-TY! DAVID LYNCH SPECIAL, a compilation of Lynch’s music videos and commercials, shown immediately after Industrial Symphony No. 1 at 13:00.
Due to this addition, the Pumpeloidut 2025 screening on Sunday at noon will now take place at Studio at 12:00 (instead of Valvesali).
Please also note that the F*CK PATRIARCHY screening on Thursday, August 21st will now begin at 20:30.
