Five promising directors selected for OMVF Next

Last weekend, we kicked off the very first edition of OMVF Next, a mentoring program tailored for music video directors. Supported by AVEK, the aim of this masterclass is to foster the growth of a new generation of promising talents.

The selected participants are Carmen Baltzar, Krasimir Jovanovic Hyvärinen, Aatos Ketvel, Ilona Lehtonen, and Joonas Lind.

Over the coming months, each of them will develop a new work set to premiere this August at the Oulu Music Video Festival. Their mentors are artist Mika Taanila and director Marcus Söderlund.

We received 20 applications by the deadline. In addition to the quality of the proposals and previous work, the selection process emphasized diversity—particularly in terms of artistic approaches, as well as the backgrounds and needs of the applicants.
