At mere 16 years of age, Swedish skateboarded Ali Boulala was known as a prodigy. As Flip Skateboards recruited him, the young and promising talent was flown from Sweden all the way to Los Angeles, the heart of the 90’s skating scene. Boulala was on a promising path to the top of the skateboarding world, until drugs and alcohol threw him off his promising career. The chaotic and restless lifestyle of the star escalated to a tragic accident that changed his life forever.

In Max Eriksson’s debut film we see Boulala’s story through VHS tapes recorded by his friends during the 90s and the 00s. The tapes reveal the care-free chaos that led to the tragedy that followed. With years of gained perspective, Boulala looks back on his youth and the darker side of fame.
