Benjamin Mullinkosson's movie The Last Year of Darkness takes the viewer to a journey through the streets of Chengdu that ends up in a haven of alternative party culture, Funky Town. It's a club where you can get lost into the colorful neon lights, bass rumbling and dancing. It’s also a safe place where many young alternative people can be free from the norms of society, and now the club is under a threat of demolition due to urbanization. The documentary intimately follows the personal stories from some of the people who inhabit the local underground scene.
