A musical genre, a clothing style, a subculture, an aesthetic, a synonym to melancholy – the word emo carries multiple meanings. This screening dives into the deep end of emo music videos from visually striking classics to the modern day, where the once pronaunced as dead emo has now risen from its grave. The main focus of the screening will be on the first decade of 2000’s, the iconic videos of the golden age of the emo genre. Some say that they also represent the last golden years of Music Television.

The screening has been curated by music reporter Mirko Siikaluoma, who lived his emotional teen years in the 00’s. At first emo music was a guilty pleasure for him but later on it became a matter of the heart.
