Henna Riikonen Wins the OMVF Main Prize 2011

The Best Music Videos Revealed in Pumpeli Award Gala

Oulu Music Video Festival culminated in the Pumpeli Award Gala, the celebration of the best Finnish Music Videos of the year. The gala that ended up to be a wicked tribute to David Hasselhoff, brought to the stage also a Finnish pop band Mariska and Pahat Sudet. Gala was hosted by TV host Sampo Marjomaa.

Henna Riikonen won the main prize of the Finnish Music Video Contest, Golden Pumpeli, with her video Sydänmaa to Olavi Uusivirta. The jury awarded Joona Riikonen with the Teen Pumpeli prize for his video Juju - Loppu. 

The audience award People's Pumpeli was handed to Jouni Kallio who directed the video Yhdeksän tien päät to Finnish band Stam1na. The audience award contest gathered a record breaking 5400 votes this year.

The winners were awarded with Pumpeli statues hand crafted by Ari Eskola. Oulu Music Video Festival presented a monetary award of 2500 euros to the winner of the main prize. Joona Sarisalmi was awarded with Avid Media Composer 5.5. editing software. 

The jury also awarded six directors with honorary mentions:

SMC Lähiörotat - Yks risti kaks, dir. Jukka Metsäaho & Jaakko Itäaho
CMX - Auringon kultainen kaupunki, dir. Hannu Aukia
Haloo Helsinki! - Kokeile minua, dir. Misko Iho
Husky Rescue - Fast Lane, dir. Antony Bentley
Zebra and Snake - Big Bad Drummer, dir. Juho Risto Aukusti Lähdesmäki

The chairman of the jury this year was internationally acclaimed Finnish music video and commercial director Pete Riski. The jury was completed with YleX music journalist Veli Kauppinen and heavy rock magazine Inferno's editor Matti Riekki. Altogether 208 music videos participated were registered to the music video contest in 2011.
